  1. Dude! I love it! It's such a great idea to have one less thing to have to worry about getting at the store and not having to throw away the stuff you didn't need - I do that all the time. But, dude, if you say that garlic is not one of your essential ingredients than you must be mistaken because Marta cooking almost always has a ton of garlic in it! (Just the way I like it)! Thank you so much for pointing out what everyone needs to know about not using the same meat you made the broth with to make the soup with. For serious - it definitely gets all tough and flavorless. I've had your broth - it really is way better than store-bought! I love your practical blog. :) Thanks!

  2. Wow, great post! If I didn't know better, I'd swear you were a professional. ;) And I loved that you included photos, it's helpful to have visual aids. Preach on, Marta Child!

  4. I love it! First the idea of essential ingredients and getting clear on what yours are is so important. Oh and joining a home with another person means your essential ingredients change! Having a chicken always in the freezer was never essential but now it is.

My essentials include - balsamic and sherry vinegars, fresh herbs, good salt in a bowl on the stove, lemon, onions, garlic and a jar of Mama Lil's Peppers!

Robbie always makes the chicken stock - now I can!
